In observance of the annual world No Tobacco Day on the 31st of May, 2018, Yemhi Memorial College celebrated the event with an extempore speech competition and say No to Tobacco signing campaign with “Tobacco Breaks Hearts” as the Theme of the day, sixteen participants spoke on various topics related to Tobacco consumption and the effects of the same. As one of the many schools and colleges recognised as a Tobacco free Institution by the District Tobacco Control Cell, Dimapur, the college strives to live up to the status. Each of the participants were awarded certificates from the District Tobacco Control Cell. The three winners Sentilong, Hitoka Swu and Chinaho Rochill (1st, 2nd and 3rd respectively) were also awarded with certificates from the college Tobacco Control Committee.
The panel of Judges for the event were Miss. Amongla Imsong, Madam Alpana Dey and Sir Toyeto Chishi. Miss Payal Dutta chaired the Programme and Madam Angukali T. Ayemi delivered the vote of thanks. Around 70 students attended the program.
