Red Ribbon Club Awareness Programme

Red Ribbon Club of Yemhi Memorial College organized an awareness programme under the theme “Be Happy, Be Brave, Be Drug Free” on 16th of March 2020 at 12.40 pm in the College Conference Hall with Ms. B. Rai, Assistant Professor, Department of English as the resource person.

The programme was chaired by Ms. Hanluchi of BA.4th semester by highlighting the order of the programme, followed by invocation led by Mr. Toshika, President EU. Ms. Kinivi K Awomi delivered a warm welcome note.

A drama on drug abusers being affected by HIV through sharing of syrings was performed Ms.Senchumlo Shitio & Friends portraying the message on prevention of HIV/AIDS through this act, followed by special number by Ms. Kavitoli Swu of BA.6th semester.

The resource person Ms. B. Rai delivered a message on the theme “Be Happy, Be Brave, Be Drug Free” as an emphasis on the mental health, associating positive aspects and negative aspects for contentment. On the concept of ‘Happy’, she stressed on the value relationship, be grateful and thankful in all the circumstances, cultivate and pursue passion and habits, learn to be generous and be quick to forgive. On the concept of ‘Brave’ she stressed on dealing with fear which intimated us and to emerge out as a victor, ‘No’ to bad companions, ability to accept and admit mistakes and coming out of the comfort zone. Thus, concluding her inspiring speech by emphasizing on how development of positive and negative aspect to negative situations for contentment leads to mental well being.

The programme concluded with the distribution of prize to the winners of Poetry and Song writing competition by Mr. S Kossam Konyak, Nodal Officer RRC, YMC. Mr. Orenvungo Bendang of BA.6th semester and Mr. T. Bechung Khamba of BA.2nd semester were the winners of Poetry competition first and second respectively. Mr. Chubasashi  Aier of BA>4th semester was thewinner of the song writing competition. Followed by vote of thanks delivered by Mr. Chimkiumong.B of BA.4th semester.
