Should Vocational Training be made mandatory for all students?

Yemhi Memorial College, Dimapur, hosted its much-anticipated Inter-Departmental Debate Competition on 5th April 2025, at the college auditorium. The event was organized by the Department of English Yemhi Memorial College Dimapur aiming to foster critical thinking, public speaking, and intellectual engagement among students.

The competition witnessed enthusiastic participation from various departments, including English, Economics, Political Science, History, Education, and Sociology. The topic for the debate was “Should Vocational Training be made mandatory for all students”, which sparked lively discussions and passionate arguments from both the proposition and opposition teams.

The debate was judged by a panel of esteemed faculty members who evaluated the participants based on content, clarity, argumentation, presentation, and rebuttal. Each team displayed commendable preparation and persuasive skills, making the competition intense and intellectually stimulating.

After a rigorous round of deliberation, Torunkhum of BA 6th Semester from the Department of Political Science emerged as the winner of the competition.

Hemalatha of BA 6th Sem English Honours was the moderator of the competition. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from Likuvu of BA 6th Sem English Honours expressing gratitude to the organizing team, participants, judges, and the audience for making the event a grand success.
