Excursion cum Educational Tour from 1th to 2nd Nov. 2017 Chandigarh – Manali – Shimla – Delhi (Undertaken by Economics and Commerce Deptt.)

On 1th Nov. 2017, we (5) five teachers (3 from economics and 2 from commerce) along with 24 students boarded the train “Chandigarh Express” for the journey to explore and face the unknown adventures waiting for us. We reached Chandigarh railway station on 30th Nov. 2017 around 1.3 pm where our guide Mr. Liton was waiting for us with two tourist bus and one innova. We had lunch in the hotel (Grand Residency) after that we visited local area like Rock Garden and Sukhna Lake. Next morning i.e., on 14th Nov. 2017, after breakfast we moved to Manali which took around 13 hrs to reach. We settled the night with temperature going down as low as 11C on 15th Nov. 2017, we went to Rothang Pass which was 51 Km from Manali and stand at a height of 3978m (13050 ft.) above sea level.

With dangerous curves and beautiful high mountains, pine trees, the journey to the tops was something to be cherished. As we reached the top, it was snowing with temperature below – 15C. We returned back in the evening and after having our lunch, we visited Manali famous street called Mall road. Next day i.e., on 16th Nov. 2017, we visited Hadimba Devi Temple which is located inside the Nature Park, The Club house, lastly, river rafting in the chilled river of Manali which was a lifetime experience. On 17th Nov. 2017, after breakfast we started our next journey to Shimla which took around 10 hrs to reach. Next morning, 19th Nov. 2017, we went to Kufri valley which was 20 km away from Shimla. From there, we went to Kufri point by horse which was something new for all of us. As we reached the top, there were lots of activities but due to time constraint, we selected zip lining after which we enjoyed the surrounding which was full of stalls and fun activities. From there we headed to Shimla, there we had lunch in our hotel (Hotel Apsara), then, we went to Mall road which is the main street in Shimla, constructed during British Colonial rule.

That evening, we headed to Chandigarh, from there we boarded bus for Delhi. We reached Delhi on 19th Nov. 2017 early in the morning. We stayed at hotel (Durga International) which was located in the north side of Delhi. We had breakfast, then headed out for sightseeing. First stop was Red Fort or Lal_Qila constructed in 1639 by Mughal Emperor Shahjahan as the palace of his fortified capital Shahjahanabad, Red Fort is known for its massive enclosing walls or red sand stone. Next was India Gate which is a war memorial to 82000 soldiers who died during world war-1 After that we had our lunch at Nehru Park. Next was Qutab Minar, A UNESCO World heritage site, 73 meter high tower, constructed in 1192 by Qutab-ud-din Aibak and completed by Iltutmish. The final stop was Sarojini market, a heaven for shopaholic. The trip was a wonderful experience though we were tired and exhausted, our heart were left with all the beautiful wonders that god has created and left with humble heart, wanting and hoping to explore more in the coming days. On 20th Nov. 2017, we boarded Northeast express train, excited to go back home while missing all the days that we spend. Finally, we reached our homeland Dimapur on 22nd Nov. 2017.
